How to compare two texts
- 1. Paste the original text. Add the first version of a document, text file, article draft, copied paragraph, code snippet, or note.
- 2. Paste the changed text. Add the second version to compare text differences, additions, removals, and changed lines.
- 3. Choose line or word diff. Use line diff for comparing text files and documents. Use word diff for shorter edits, rewritten sentences, and similarity checks.
- 4. Continue editing. Use Find and Replace to update repeated text, Text Cleaner to clean formatting, or PC Notepad to save the final draft.

Frequently asked questions
How do I compare two texts online?
Paste the original text on the left, paste the changed text on the right, choose line or word diff, and review the differences panel.
Can I compare text files online?
Yes. Open your text files locally, paste each file's content into the two boxes, and the tool will compare the text differences in your browser.
Can I compare text side by side?
Yes. The tool shows original text, changed text, and a side-by-side difference view with added, removed, and changed lines.
Can I compare words instead of lines?
Yes. Switch to Word diff to compare text at word level. Line diff is better for documents and files, while word diff is better for sentence edits.
Can I ignore case and whitespace?
Yes. Use Ignore case, Whitespace, and Trim lines to reduce noise when comparing copied text or formatted documents.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Text comparison happens locally in your browser on your device. PC Notepad does not receive the text you paste into the tool.
