Privacy Policy

PC Notepad is designed as a private browser-based notepad. This policy explains what is stored locally, what is not collected, how analytics works, and how you can manage your notes.

Last updated: June 7, 2026

1. Overview

PC Notepad is built with privacy by default. Notes you type are processed in your browser and stored on your device. We do not run a server that stores your notes, and we do not require an account to use the notepad.

Because the app is local-first, your saved notes are tied to the browser and device where you wrote them. If you need a permanent copy, use the export options.

2. Local Storage

2.1 Notes saved in your browser

Plaintext notes are saved locally in browser storage so the notepad can reload your work when you come back. This data stays on your device unless you export it, share it, clear browser data, or otherwise move it yourself.

2.2 Optional encrypted notes

If you enable Password Lock, note content is encrypted in your browser using Web Crypto with AES-GCM. We cannot see the encrypted note content and cannot recover a forgotten password.

2.3 Preferences and offline cache

Theme preference, basic UI settings, and app cache files may be stored locally so PC Notepad can load faster and work offline after the first visit.

2.4 Important backup note

Local notes can be removed if you clear browser data, reset the browser profile, use private browsing, uninstall the installed app, or switch to another device. Export important notes as TXT, DOCX, or PDF for your own backup.

3. What We Do Not Collect

  • No account or sign-up information is required.
  • No note content is uploaded to our server.
  • No cloud sync copy of your notes is created by us.
  • No payment information is collected by PC Notepad.
  • No sale of personal information.

4. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand overall usage, such as page views, device types, rough geography, and general feature usage patterns. Analytics does not include the text you write in your notes.

Google Analytics may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser. You can block analytics with browser privacy settings, content blockers, or extensions.

5. Security

PC Notepad uses browser-based storage and optional client-side encryption for locked notes. Encryption is only useful if you keep your password safe and maintain your own backups.

  • We cannot recover encrypted notes if the password is lost.
  • Export important notes regularly for a separate backup.
  • Do not paste passwords, recovery codes, or financial secrets into any browser tool unless you are comfortable managing the local copy yourself.

6. Your Choices

  • Use Password Lock for sensitive notes.
  • Export notes to keep external backups.
  • Clear localStorage or browser site data to remove saved notes from your device.
  • Block analytics with your browser or extensions if preferred.
  • Contact us if you have a privacy question about the site.

7. Children's Privacy

PC Notepad is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will address it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Last updated date above. Continued use of PC Notepad after updates means you accept the updated policy.
